School Meals
LUNCHES AND FOOD IN SCHOOL
Our lunches are cooked off-site by Harrisons, and are high quality and tasty. They meet all the government’s nutritional requirements. See the current menu below. Children can choose each day whether to have a meat option or a vegetarian option; meat options are offered as halal and as non-halal. Food allergies and intolerances can be catered for.
School lunches cost £2.50 a day and are paid for in advance via the School Gateway app. All children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are entitled to a free school meal. If your child is in Nursery or Years 3 to 6, and you think he or she may be entitled to a free school meal, please enquire at the school office. There is a simple form for you to complete so we can check whether you are entitled.
If parents
prefer, their child can bring in a packed lunch. During the winter, children
eat their packed lunches in the hall with their friends who eat a school lunch.
During warm weather, children eat their packed lunches outside. Children are
also asked to bring a packed lunch if they are out on a school trip, unless
they are eligible for a free meal, in which case one will be provided. Packed lunches
should be healthy; our packed lunch guidelines can be found below.
FRUIT
We encourage children to eat a piece of fruit during the day. Fruit is provided for children in Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 2. Children in KS2 are encouraged to bring in a piece of fruit to enjoy during morning break. Some children also bring a piece of fruit to have after school, if they are attending a club.
NUTS AND OTHER ALLERGIES
Several children in the school have a severe nut allergy; for this reason, NO child should bring in any food containing nuts.
If your child has any allergies or food intolerances, please make sure we know so we can keep them safe and healthy.
For further
information, see the school’s food policy.
