Pupil Premium
The Pupil Premium is a grant given to schools for each child who claims free school meals currently, or who has done so in the past six years. Research has shown that pupils who have been or are on free school meals do not attain as highly as other children in school. The government provides this grant so we can allocate additional support to ensure that disadvantaged children do attain well. The support can be for different periods of time, and may take the form of one-to-one support, small group teaching or additional teacher support in class. It could also be access to opportunities that enhance learning and aspiration.
Our aims, when considering how to spend this grant, are to close the gap in academic attainment for disadvantaged pupils; and to ensure that all pupils are given the same opportunities to develop their academic, spiritual, emotional, cultural and social potential.
